About me
I created Book and a Brew because there was very little out there that promotes reading as way of maintaining our mental health.
Reading is an integral part of my life, and the most important way I maintain my wellbeing.
Reading relaxes us, it takes us out of our heads when we’ve had a difficult day, and takes us to places, time periods and even planets we cannot visit. We can travel the world without leaving our chair.
Book and a Brew offers freedom and flexibility to our members. We are a no judgement zone, and each prompt is different to the last. If you’re into it, read it!
The Book and a Brew blog spotlights our favorite authors, and reviews everything from classic novels to current bestsellers. We read widely, with our choices spanning a range of genres and tropes.
If you love to maintain your mental health through the power of reading, I hope you’ll join our community.

Expertise
Book Reviews, Memories and Stories
I’m not an expert. I don’t work in publishing. I don’t own my own bookshop (yet!). I’m not a book editor. I’m simply an avid reader who cannot imagine my life without good books.
I read every day, often beginning and ending my day with a few minutes reading time. I don’t stick to one genre, but I do return to a few from time to time (mostly historical fiction and memoirs). I read widely and my choices range from current bestsellers to classic novels.
I’m not precious about the state of my books, and I’m a big champion of using local libraries and buying pre-loved where possible.
By creating Book and a Brew, I’m hoping to build a community of like-minded readers who love to read, and believe in the power of reading to improve our lives.
